Crenshaw, Ware & Martin's Environmental Practice Group counsels and represents business and real estate owners, landlords, Housing Authorities and their insurers, and Community Associations in preventing or defending claims for asbestos, lead-based paint and carbon monoxide poisoning. The firm also counsels clients as to appropriate actions needed to comply with changing local, state and federal laws and regulations governing these hazards, such as the Housing and Community Development Act and the Lead-Based Paint Poisoning Prevention Act.

The Environmental Practice Group also offers counseling regarding environmental liability arising under state and federal laws, such as Superfund and the Oil Pollution Act. We advise clients on regulatory matters involving the E.P.A., the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Virginia Water Control Board. We also provide expertise regarding environmental compliance and serve as liaison with federal and state agencies to resolve compliance issues and discharge violations. The firm litigates environmental disputes when necessary.

The Environmental Practice Group has represented firms in the railroad and maritime industries in asbestos litigation, maritime and chemical companies in Environmental Protection Agency consent decree negotiations, as well as various property owners and businesses in litigation involving lead paint, carbon monoxide poisoning and toxic chemical exposure cases. The Group has formed an excellent reputation for aggressive representation in these cases, which has resulted in constant growth in this area of practice.
